Jowls--do they stay, or do they go?

When I look in the mirror, I can't stop thinking about Paul McCartney and Angela Lansbury. I'm obese and jowly right now, and wondering if anyone has seen their jowls disappear along with weight loss.

From seeing my relatives that are older, I know that I am destined to have it. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you.

LOL. I've lost about 50 lbs and have probably another 30 to go - I still have jowls, but they are definitely smaller. My double chin is less, um, double. So I'm hopeful. But if they don't completely go away, I'm old enough that I could be considered "distinguished", or so I tell myself.

I'm looking for a little medical help when I'm 50 for my jowls...don't think weight loss will do it. It's an age /genetic thing - I think?

my face certainly tightened up and continues to the lower my body fat percentage gets.

I also have a loose lower chin that runs in my family and which is complicate by a scar there from a childhood accident. it also has tightened up and looks much better.

For what it's worth - many of my 65+ friends have told me that you can't lose loose skin when you're older, but I'm losing mine. It takes time, and the progress is slow, but my upper arm flaps have almost disappeared, and I've lost the fat on my neck and stayed taut. I do a number of resistance exercises for my neck and shoulders which work the muscles in my neck, and I think that's why I don't have any sagging skin there.

It's harder with your face, because there just aren't exercises to develop stronger facial muscles, or at least there aren't any that work as far as I've seen. However, I've had good luck with fillers. About three year ago I tried getting fillers in the lines around my mouth, because I was starting to look like I was scowling all the time. My first granddaughter was due at the same time my husband had major surgery, and I figured if I was going to be playing nursemaid I didn't want to scare the baby or give my husband the impression I was unhappy tending to him.

Since then, I've had several injections of fillers in the lines of my face with amazing results. It took a while to find which brand of filler would last best for me, but it's now been over a year since my last treatment, and the lines that were filled haven't come back, even though I've lost a good bit of fat in my face. Also, the fillers lifted the corners of my mouth, which had started to droop. so now I don't look like I'm frowning all the time. I think it might be worthwhile for you to get a consultation with a dermatologist or dermatological technician to ask about fillers.

We all know that when we loose weight our face gets thinner, at least mine did. I used to have a double chin ( but not a turkey neck)i'm sur the more weight you loose the more your face will too!!
