So, as the weather get's warmer here in the Northeast, I'm thinking about mixing biking into my regimen. I've never really biked a lot and I'm thinking of it for longer distance steady state cardio, like say, an hour or more, and occaisionally for HIIT. We've got some great parks with wilderness trails around that'd be great for some nice rides. Not moutain biking though.

So whose got a bike recomedation for me? My criteria would be not wildly expensive but decent quality, comfortable (don't want a numb butt!) Other than that I'm highly suggestable! So let's hear it!

Ooh! I'd like to know this too! I've been thinking about training for the Danskin women's triathlon here, but I don't own a bike. I'm needing a similar recommendation :)

From someone who has a small bicycle addiction. The best advise I can give you is go to a local bicycle shop. Ask them the same questions you have asked here. They will be able to point you in the right directions as to what type, brand, etc to buy in your budget. Also they will be much better at fitting you on your new bike as that is a very important part of riding a bike.

My first advice is do not buy a bike at Walmart or similar stores. They have inexpensive, poor quality bikes and there is no one to help you fit the bike to you and the type of riding you want to do.

Stores that specialize in bikes would be able to help find the right type and size of bike. When I was shopping for bikes I usually have gone to several different ones. They would ask about what I wanted, choose bikes that were sized for me and let me take them for a test ride. The cost of bikes at biek store usualy start around $300.

For me I have old Schwin mountain bike and a newer Cannondale. Both are great bikes though I am not as certain the newer Schwinns are as good. I have riden Trek, Marin, Specialized and Masi and they all seemed like good bikes.

Absolutely this. Bike shops are definitely the way to go.
