Dukan Diet

Has anyone heard of or tried the dukan diet? It's supposedly what Kate Middleton did to lose weight before her wedding.
There are 4 stages in the diet:
Attack Phase
You eat only lean protein (meat, poultry, fish, fat-free yogurt) for 3-5 days, while drinking at least 1.5 L of water per day. You're also supposed to eat 1 1/2 tablespoons of oat bran per day. Also you are supposed to walk for 20 minutes daily
Cruise Phase
After you've done the Attack Phase, you alternate between days of eating pure protein (like during the attack phase), and days of eating protein AND veggies. You also must keep drinking water and walking for 20 minutes daily. Oat bran consumption is upped to 2 tablespoons. You continue this phase until your goal weight is reached.
Consolidation Phase
You may add one serving of fruit and 2 servings of whole grain toast per day. Continue the water and walking, and keep consuming 2 tablespoons of oat bran per day. You're supposed to continue this phase for 5 days for every 1 lb you've lost
Stabilization Phase
You may return to normal eating, while one day per week you should only consume protein (plan ahead which day it will be). Oat bran consumption is upped to 3 tablespoons per day. This phase lasts forever - eating the 1 day of pure protein is supposed to maintain your weight.

What do you guys think of this diet?

  • It sounds pretty healthy, as long as there are no restrictions on how much portions of protein you have.

It sounds really boring to me. Too restrictive. And this comes from someone who has 4 protein shakes and a light meal everyday.

I tried it . Lasted a week. It was disgusting. I just coulnd't do it and I felt terrible, all the time.
MFP works better. If you want to try low carb maybe do carb cycling, do 2-3 days low carb then one day high carb to balance it out .
