Hi all,
This may have been a question frequently answered but I'm not having any luck finding the answer. When adding your own recipe into the system how do I determine how many servings to enter. For example for a large part of soup or a large pot of sauce.
Thank you, I really appreciate your input.

You take your complete recipe (example, the whole pot of soup) and find out how many bowls that will make. That's the number of servings.0

I guesstimate when it's a pot of something. When it's meat I use 4 oz as a serving so if I have a lb of meat in a recipe it's 4 servings. You can always go back and change it or just add 2 servings to your day.0

When I make a big pot of something I measure it out in 8oz serving sizes into another big pot. Each 8oz is a serving.0

When I make a pot of something, I transfer it all into another big bowl using a "1 cup" measuring cup & count how many 1 cup servings there were. It takes some extra time, but this is the only accurate way I've heard to do it.0

I'm a bit of a computer nerd so what I have done when I make my turkey chili is:
Create a spreadsheet
On page 1 Add a line for each ingredient and record it's nutrition information based on a serving (grams)
On page 2 I track how many servings of that ingredient I used
On page 3 I show the total grams (for all the ingredients) and I add a line that will take how many grams are in a cup, and divide the total by that number. it will produce the final nutrition information for 1 serving (1 cup)
This way it makes it easy, if next time I add extra turkey, or beans, etc
I can just adjust page 2 to increase the number of servings of that one ingredient and poof, the 3rd page is updated with the new nutrition info.
I could share a google doc example0 -
These are really helpful. Thank you.0
