Sciatica Issues and Exercise Tips?

Today I was bed-ridden - being struck by a double whammy of Sciatica and Mittelschmerz. Luckily, Mittelschmerz only lasts a day, so I should be able to go back to work and the gym tomorrow.
But, I noticed after doing any amount of exercise lately, my Sciatica pain has been creeping in.... I can usually deal with just Sciatica pain and push myself through it. But the combo of both pains today was beyond unbearable.
I do NOT want to relive this day. I was in so much pain.
Anyone out there have any tips for exercising even with Sciatica pain?

Well I don't know if I've had the same 'sciatica' problem, but for two years I suffered with paindown the back of my right thigh, hard to drive or sit for any length of time and lots of aching especially at night I couldn't lie on that side. Two years ago i was mostly walking for exercise, to try and get rid of the sciatica I did physio, acupuncture, sports clinic and stretching.
The stretching (look up pigeon pose for one great stretch) was the only thing that helped for 2 years, when it would get bad I would stretch twice a day, and then when it wasn't so bad at least once a day to maintain. A month ago i decided to try a chiropractor - and I have felt intensely better. It seldom bothers me now, though I did lots of lunges and squats about a week ago and it flared up again - so I reverted to my stretches again and quickly got it under control. Hope this of some help sorry I don't know what Mittelschmerz is but I wish you well!0 -
Stretch and strength train. I haven't had as many episodes with my pain since I have strengthened my lower back and legs. Stretching is extremely important.0

See a chiropractor!!!! No seriously. You need too, I worked as a chiropractic assistant and seen plenty of people who could barely walk because the choose to ignore it. I saw a young girl who had it so bad she ended up having permenant nerve damage she was only 26 years old. Also just so you know use ice for the pain. Never.ever.heat! People think heats better BC its relaxing but really all it does is cause more inflammation. Ice is much better to use and will help with the pain. Just plant ur butt on ice.. but I really suggest you see a chiropractor and get it taken care of so it doesn't ever come back.0

Thank you all for your feedback! I was considering seeing a chiropractor and I just might now. Thanks also for the tip with the ice. :-)0
