I do a full body strength train every other day with weights and in between those days I do something else like stretches, jogging or a workout dvd. My question is: Am I still letting my muscles rest from strength training if I do a workout video that may work the same muscle groups I did the day before, but im not using weights while doing the dvd.

You can do cardio every single day, without needing a rest. Weight work requires you to let that muscle group rest, but it's not in stone.

For me, I find it better to rest 2 days before working a body part again. It just seemed like I couldn't work as hard when I rested only one day.
