Today I finally had an opportunity to help someone else on their weight loss journey and it felt really good. I have been doing this for sometime now and (whilst I do not for one second think I am an expert) have learnt a lot from MFP and a very good friend of mine that actually inspired me to lose weight. After ages of reading helpful tips and occassionally adding my two cents in where I could I finally had a moment where I felt I could actually help someone. My mom started a diet a few weeks ago and, being kinda old school, was going about it as all those of yester year by eating nothing but salad in minute quantities. She lost 4kg's that way and was feeling quite happy and proud of herself until today when she confessed that her weight loss had stalled. I felt quite proud of myself explaining to her about starvation mode and the inevitable plateus of weight loss and how she should increase her calories in order to start the process moving again. Unfortunately she has no desire to exercise or join the website, but I did hand her a banana and a protein bar and tell her to add them to the diet she was already following to up the amount of calories she is consuming. I hope she listens :-)
