I am so flippin excited about my newest record that I cannot stand it.

I've never really done strength training before now, always just cardio. Well, I've been working with a trainer since the first of the year and we do strength training 2x's/week. I really had NO idea how much it would help me with my weight loss goals and am just so psyched.

Anyway, to the point. My first day of training (January 4th), my trainer asked how many push-ups I could do. I asked what kind? She said... What do you mean, what kind? There's just one kind. :) What I meant, of course, was did she want my knees on the ground or my whole body in the air. The second option, of course. "We don't do girl push ups here", she said.

Well, I could do FIVE that day. I test myself every 10 days or so to see how I am doing.

Last night I did 20. TWENTY FLIPPIN PUSH UPS! Heeee.... Whooop Whoop!!!! I am so excited. I really never expected that. Never!

It feels great! I asked my husband how many he thinks I can eventually get to and he said maybe 30-35. So... I'm going for 36. :)

Thanks for letting me share. Feel free to share improvements you've made as well!

Congratulations! That's fantastic! I can't wait to get there myself. I can do 23 girl push-ups and maybe 5 regular ones~ Thanks for the inspiration!

That's awesome! I keep working on them...think they're a great sign as to where you're at with upper body strength. I tend to use my shoulders too much so working on my form! Something that really helped me was to add a medicine ball toss. My trainer would throw me the ball and I tossed it to him from my chest before landing in a pushup to immediately fall back to repeat. 3 sets of 10. After doing this for a while, pushups seemed soooo much easier! If you look up "kneeling pushup with medicine ball" you'll see some examples. Very motivating! :)
  • Yes! We do push ups with the medicine ball also. I am learning so many cool exercises. Love it!

    Yay!
I used to be a push up machine, now I am not...working on it though! You should check out the 100pushups program, if you haven't already.

I love doing real pushups. I'm about the most nonathletic one in there, and it's only me and the coach who are doing real ones. All the others are like Wah, those are too hard. And yet I still smoke them in the numbers game. It's so empowering to be lifting your whole body!
