Exercise during dieting or after

I was once told that i should loose what weight i want before lifting weights or trying to tone my body. I was told that if i don't lose the weight first that the muscles under the fat would just make me look bigger. So should i just do cardio while dieting and than after i've lost the weight start toning?

    I think you need a balanced approach. Strength-training, cardio, flexibility, and proper recovery all work with your diet to improve your overall health. You improve at these things, you will improve the way you look and move. I think it is a useless idea to wait to work out until you have lost weight. Whole body health comes from all these things.
