Weights/Strength Training - Order?

Hello,
My first post on this bit of the site. I've recently started doing weights - high enough to puff me out - and have a programme from a trainer at the gym that I'm working on. I use various machines - chest press, shoulder press, seated row, leg press, etc. Sometimes the gym is quiet and I can work through the programme as it's on my sheet - sometimes it's busy and rather than wait about, I go on the bike for five minutes or so until the equipment I want to use is free.
Thinking about it though... do I have to use the equipment in the order it's been written on the programme? It's probably a really daft question, so I'll cringe in advance but advice would be great. Thanks,
