I've gotten really good with my cardio workouts, but don't do much strength training. I think I need a video to follow (going to a gym is not an option - I work out after the kids are in bed). Can anyone recommend a good strength training video?

I'm on the lookout. I am in the same situation. Maybe we can find some excersizes to do to buff us up.

Chalean Extreme is great, also Insanity is as well but it is truly INSANE!

I'm doing New Rules of Lifting for Women right now but it's a book (and a great one at that!) The workouts are best done at a gym but I do them from home as I've slowly gathered equipment from Craigslist.

I did P90X and if you have dumbbells or resistance bands it's a great workout! There are several DVDs in the series and the plan alternates between cardio and strength. Now that I'm not doing the program I just cherry pick the workouts I want to do. For me right now I'm doing New Rules for strength so this means just grabbing a cardio DVD here and there (I also do this with the TurboFire series I have.) You could just do the strength workouts if you have other cardio options.

This is all I've used so I can't speak on other programs but I've heard good things about the Jillian Michael's DVD.
  • I am a big fan of Bob Harper (the biggest loser trainer). The Inside Out Method ones are great. In a way he really combines strength training with some cardio, which I love! Get Ripped 1000 are good with Jari Love (sounds like a porn star and the music in it does as well...LOL). I also used to love Cathe Fredric for weight training, but used to get that on Fit TV which is no longer available on my cable service and I haven't tried to look for the DVD's. It is dated, but still was a great strength training workout.

    Hope that helps.

Hmmm...Fit TV. I someone think I may have that. I'll have to check!

Thanks for the suggestions! Keep them coming!
