Welcome Katherine :flowerforyou: There are quite a few of you from Surrey here now.

Shoppie and Helen, I'm the oldest at 43. Also have 2 kids both girls.

Why no celebrations, Helen? Saving yourself for the weekend I hope!!

Cinnamon get well soon. Wondering if Swine flu is better or worse than Man flu. Suppose it depends on who gets it  I weigh in every day and then get very cross if I've not lost.

I did 40 mins of exercise today, need to up the water level though.

Hey everyone! Good luck with the bikeathon on Sunday Katherine, sounds tough going. Your bum is going to be soooooooore  Have you been training hard?

Shoppie, lunch sounds good, I can never resist smothering my jacket potato in cheese and beans. Enjoy the cake, hope you have nice evening!

The most exercise I got today was walking to the corner shop to get more tissues! I'm sure I was a lovely sight with my unbrushed hair and bright red nose :noway: I'm defo going swimming tomorrow, need some exercise. Planned a nice healthy breakfast of scrambled egg on 2 pieces of wholewheat nimble bread. I've gone over my calories today, do you think it's ok cause I'm ill? I didn't eat bad things, it was oranges and raisins that pushed me over by about 200 calories.

Cinnamon... thanks for the support.. yes i have been training hard with lots of spinning... Having a clean eating week this week!!

Thanks for the welcome Lorro.. So lovely to see so many people from the UK.. i could imagine this group getting pretty big!! :drinker:

I have a super comfy seat this time round.. Last year it was the hardest thing and hurt like mad!! So my rear end will be happy.. I hope!!

Good morning to you all.. i hope you have a lovely day..:flowerforyou:

BTW does anyone listen to the Chris Moyles show in the mornings?

    Katherine x
  • Morning all. Happy birthday Helen, hope you have a fabulous day in the sauna!! :flowerforyou:

Hoping to make it to swimming today, desperately need some exercise. Feeling a wee bit better today, will go to the pharmacy to stock up on drugs. Planned a nice prawn thai green curry with onions and peppers and brown rice for din dins so have to earn some more calories! Anyone got anything nice planned for dinner?

Had my yummy breakfast to give me fuel to crack on with my revision. Good luck today everyone :drinker:

There is no age limit, i think its cool we range from 20 to 43 :glasses:

I am doing pretty well so far, had 2 slices of DH's birthday cake (one yesterday, one tonight), but I have done lots of exercise - 20 mins with buggy and 20 mins on the lateral thigh trainer today. Food:
    B - porridge
    L - beans on toast
D - jambalaya sauce and pasta - this is chicken soup, tinned toms, worcester sauce, onions and spices and is much nicer than it sounds but very low cal and fat! Its brill cos I make chicken jambalaya on day one, then eat the extra sauce with pasta on day 2
  • Welcome to the group hgam1! You've already had such successful weight loss, you look amazing in your pics!! And your little girl is adorable :smooched:

Glad you enjoyed the gym Helen! What sort of stuff did you do? I'd be way too scared to go, I know I'm just so unfit when it comes to high impact cardio. Cycling, swimming and walking are as good as it gets for me :grumble:

How was everyones day? I had some good news, after being really down last night about uni stress I got the marks back from my Spanish exam and I did really well! So glad, I was really starting to panic. My cold is practically gone so I made it to swimming, did just over an hour of breast stroke. It's really working my arms, but I want to work my legs aswell, any tips?

Our challenges for this week are at least 4 one hour sets of cardio and drink all of our water. What ideas do you have Helen?

    Hi Everyone :drinker:

Katherine - I go through phases with Moyles, sometimes he's fab and then he irritates me - never sure if it's him or me. Do you listen?

Lorro - any nice lycra at the gym? The aussie hat is inspired! If only I could order my aussie to be delivered with it!

Cinnamon, sounds like everything is back on track! I did 30 mins dance today. I used to do long distance swimming. We used to do just the legs for front crawl and hold a small float out in front. They show the technique here: http://www.videojug.com/film/advanced-front-crawl

Shoppie, going to try the Jambala this weekend. What spices do you use? Is it child friendly? Cheers!

Hello all, I must tell you all that I am really impressed with the gym, it has me going back for more and no we are not talking about men in lycra lol  no this time it's purely physical, I have such a healthy glow, they should bottle it  for the first time I have used this big ball to do squats, a nice young man helped me with this, taught me how to breathe etc. told me to do the pelvic oooer :blushing:  and it felt really good. So now, my fitness regime so far is up 10 min. I now do a 60 min. work out and hopefully I will build this up on a weekly basis. Looking forward to next weeks weigh in, so far I have been below recommended calorie intake but I am not that hungry although I did cheat earlier, I had another bag of Mars planets... my sugar was low  my excuse lol I think having a little treat once or twice a week can't do any harm, a little bit of what you fancy goes a long way I say

For the first time in ages I have this weekend off so I am going to go to the gym and have a little walk along the beach (5 miles)

    Hows the swimming Cinnamon?

Welcome Snorker, never too late to join our group

Lorro, Surely there is a nice Aussie that would supply you with that hat  Keep drinking that water :drinker:

    Good luck KPnuts

I have set my challenge on drinking my 8 glasses of water and trying to get my fat grams up, the latter is hard work, have added peanut butter to my porridge but am still 2 fat grams short :grumble: perhaps I should get full fat milk :noway:

Good luck all and have a fantastic weekend :flowerforyou:

  • Hey all!

Helen - Glad you're enjoying the gym so much! 60 minutes is pretty impressive, you must burn so many calories. Remember to keep your hands to yourself, we don't want you getting banned from the gym for indecent behaviour  I have a confession to make too...last night my friend offered me some of those Aero bubble thingys...and I didn't even think twice...and they tasted gooooooood. Totally worth it  Have fun at the beach! I was wondering if you started the Alli yet?

Swimmings going well thanks, my stroke is pretty quick now and an hour goes quickly cause it's quite fun! Tried those exercises that Lorro posted and my legs got tired so quickly so I'm working on building their strength up. I'm looking forward to weighing in on Monday, goal weight for then is 143 lbs. Don't know how I'm going to keep on track this week, I've got my first exam on Tuesday so no real hope of getting any proper exercise in before then. And it's so hard to keep within my alloted calories when I'm stressed, I just grab anything. Oh well, wish me luck :drinker:

Have a good weekend everyone! I'm off to the library to study, wooooo!

    good morning all!!!

I think I know my problem re: cheating. Last night I started period, I always fancied chocolate before but back before I started the diet I would munch my way through giant bags of chocolate, maltesers being the favorite or kinder bueno. :frown:

Now in preparation for next month, does anybody have something sweet but is lower calorie and low fat that they indulge in?

So now I am also thinking should I go to the gym or not. Should I let this stop me from enjoying my workout? I am in two minds about it at the moment, one half of me says relax and have a dvd fest and the other half is saying go for it and go for a walk too.

Cinnamon, LOL  yes I will behave but the only thing that will be wandering is my mind *insert innocent smily*

I started Alli about 10 days ago, no alli-oops just yet *fingers crossed* and it's going great so far.

    Have a great one :drinker:

Hi Katherine, I'm HUNGRY  But feeling fitter than I have for ages. I'll check out Moyles on the way to work next week, thanks  . It's finally sunny here :glasses: Good luck for tomorrow, let us know how it goes! :flowerforyou:

    Hi All!

Welcome aboard snorker, never too late!

Helen: of course we all believe that your desire to spend more and more time in the gmn has nothing to do with enticing lyra clad men to to teach you purely physical pelvic ooeers which make you feel really good. Pull the other one! Whatever works, I say! The beach walk sounds great, will have to wait for my hold for one of those. Re my Aussie: not in Notts, maybe I should visit Oz

Cinnamon - I'm studying today too. Pants indeed - the suns out now. Glad the swimming exercises are doing the trick. You can build up to them by practing holding on to the side, then going for widths, then lengths, or alternate crawl and breast-stroke legs (a length or half a length of each). Re grabbing anything: I had a few days last week when had no time to cook. I tried a pot of Innocent thai curry, added chicken and it was really yummy and ready in less than 5 mins. Here's a link: http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/things_we_make/vegpots/thai/

Helen again: Try weight watchers brownie mini bites at 29 cals each, or any small dark choc with over 70% cocoa, rather than milk choc. It may also be worth trying magnesium supplements as there's some evidence that it's the need for more magnesium or iron that causes the cravings.

didn't make it to the beach, my stomach was growling after burning 870 cal when I only consumed 210, came home and wolfed down pasta with bolognese sauce.

I will try the ww mini bites, I am getting fed up with the special k ones.

Glad I don't have to work today and tomorrow, very rare for me to have a weekend off so making the most of it, going to do the ironing now

Have a nice evening all :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

  • Hey guys! Weeeeeeeell today went all wrong, whoops  Being stuck in the library and stressed about exams didn't do well for my diet. I walked to uni (about a 30 min walk) and ate scrambled eggs on toast, chicken and chips with potato salad, a cadbury caramel bar and now I'm having cucumber dipped in humus. I've hardly drunk anyway water either! Oh dear!! Back on track tomorrow, eh?

Those look tastey Lorro, thai is my favourite food. They might be a wee bit out of my student budget though, but I'm sure I can come up with something. The next few weeks are going to be so stressful that I'm hoping I can just maintain my weight loss. The swimming really is working wonders, even if I haven't lost any weight my jeans are fitting so much better so it must be toning me up. What are you studying for? I'm doing a degree in International Development, have my first exam on Tuesday on sub Saharan African Development. I'm reading about decentralisaton in Uganda as we speak

Hope you're doing ok Katie

Oh Helen, you crazy cat  Although...confession...I love ironing. It really relaxes me

Have a good weekend all, I'm getting back to the books now :smokin:

    Helen/Cinnamon: Ironing! It's official - you're both insane!

Katie! I've been wondering where you were. Hope this week is better :flowerforyou:

Cinnamon: I'm the same, changing shape but not much weight loss in the last week. I'm doing a Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy. IThe degree was part time and I got qualifications at the end of years one and two. I finished the lectures a year ago but just didn't get my dissertation in. A mistake as now I am working FT. It's hard to get back into the academic language after so long out, but I did 8 hrs of reading last night and at least I'm interested again in my subject area (Fear of Uncertainty) which may mean I stick at it over the next 6 weeks. Decentralisation in Uganda does sound  but International Development sounds interesting. My Dad works in that area. He's not qualified in it, he's an ex teacher who got into it when we went to live abroad. GOOD LUCK for exams next week :flowerforyou: :drinker:

    thanks all.
Gonna have a busy week next week.
I start my 3 week placement tomorrow (Will post new challenge before i go) i will be working 9-5 every day and spending the evenings in the library finishing my computer programming (I really do hate it, if anyone knows visual basic please let me know lol) then my BF is coming to visit for the weekend.

so i guess a question to finish this off is, how do i fit a workout in - other than getting up at 6? the walk to my placement and back will only take 30mins in total, and i dont think i will be moving around much during the day
I also want to keep my water levels up, but dont want to be going to the toilet all the time lol

ooooo and i had some info too, i just read in the new cosmo that facebook has got apps for measuring weight loss and monitoring meals and water levels, if anyone interested i'll post the app names

Katie, if you find out how to exercise when you have no time then let me know  I guess you could walk fast to work, that counts. Doing some exercise while dinner is cooking sometimes works for me. I am the multi skilling queen. I'm on FB too so let me know about those apps.

Have a great day all  :flowerforyou:
