...moving to FLORIDA. The majority of my family lives down there with the exception of my dad and brother (who live in the same city as me). It's fun to think about moving down there, not sure when it would ever become a real possibility. My boyfriend and I talk about it quite often, and he had an extremely bad day at work yesterday that got him talking about it even more. Not that Florida would be an escape to problems in the workplace, but a fresh start would sure be nice!

So, two questions. For anyone that has moved across the country (I'm in Michigan so Florida is a good 1,000+ miles away), any tips? We would be moving next to nothing since we are currently in a one bedroom apartment. It has been decided if we were to ever make the plunge, we would sell our furniture and take the rest with us. Then the only problem is getting our 2 vehicles there. Driving separate is an option, but the price of gas to do so would be astronomical. Getting a Uhaul would also cost an arm and a leg!

Next question - what do you daydream about at work? Winning the lottery? An afternoon nap? A job where you get paid to do nothing? Let's hear it!

I've never moved across the country, but I've traveled across the country.

I daydream about EVERYTHING! I sit and think of 3925029385902385 different ideas for my upcoming wedding, which keeps me VERY occupied.

Where in FL are your favorites to daydream about moving to? As someone who lives here, I talk a lot of smack about (south) FL, but I actually do love living here. There are few places I'd ever think of moving to. Most of them involve deserted islands ;)

I don't have time to daydream at work, but I have the overwhelming sensation lately that I need to think about doing something big. So, I get as far as considering what the possibilities are. Writing a book is one of them,

they have trains (amtrack) that can take your cars!!

my son moved to Florida this past fall and LOVES it! He live in Tampa

I daydream about.........getting the hell our of here!

Seriously, I daydream about my next venture, which is opening a sandwich shop here in my city. Going thru all the motions, just need a little more money and it will become reality

    Good luck to you :flowerforyou:

Flagler Beach area, right outside of Daytona. Where in Florida are you? I don't have time to daydream at work either...or get on MFP... but here I am. Oops. Means something else isn't getting done.

But yes, hopefully moving to Florida could be a dream come true this year. My boyfriend is pretty close to his parents and I think as much as he talks about it, it would be hard to be far away from them.

Trains that take your car? Oooh, I've never heard of this but I will definitely be looking into it! That is good to know your son loves it there. I can't imagine not enjoying it. Palm trees, beaches, and plenty of sun - what's not to love?

Opening up a sandwich shop sounds very exciting. I wish you the best of luck. It always comes down to money though, doesn't it? If money wasn't an issue, I can almost guarantee I'd be in Florida! :)

I daydream about my NON upcoming wedding, so I can only imagine what you're going through with a wedding in the near future. How exciting!!

I'm in West Palm Beach. Same coast as Daytona, 4 hour drive south. My boss is constantly on me. I couldn't neglect to do anything if I wanted to. I'm on lunch right now. But not for long. I say move. It's nice here, except for high cost of living and low wages.

I've also considered moving to Florida but not for about another 5 years when my son finishes High School.

The low wages thing doesn't bother me as we make pretty low wages already but the high cost of living is a bit of a concern. I think it could definitely work and we would be much happier there. I'm currently looking at job opportunities for fun...woohoo!!!
