does MFP account for plateaus?

i think i've hit a plateau and decided to manually adjust my daily calories on MFP to meet my goal of losing 3 lbs/month. but should i let MFP do that for me? before, i had it at 0.5 lb/month and it's been like that for a few months. but since i haven't been losing anymore weight, i decided to cut more calories. should i let MFP adjust my calories for me as i hit certain weight markers though?
My concern for adjusting the calories manually is what will happen once my body gets used to that amount of calories and then I plateau again? Should I then cut more calories? Or should I stay on the daily calories for losing 0.5 lbs/week and let MFP adjust my calories as I hit certain weight markers?

It will automatically ask you if you want to recalculate your goals, but I think it is every ten pounds of weight change.0
