Need to add strength training..gym or home?

I have been doing a lot of cardio and am starting to see results but really want to add strength training. My problem is I hate going to the gym alone I feel very lost and overwhelmed and honestly don't know where to start. I have thought about getting started by having a personal trainer walk me through but it is quite expensive as is the gym membership. Any suggestions for doing a strength training routine at home.
