I am looking to get a rowing machine and sadly don't have a ton of money. In a perfect world, I would be able to afford one of those wicked nice ones they use on the biggest loser but alas, they are almost 2k.

Do you have any recommendations on a good rowing machine. Also if you have any idea on the weight limit for it, that would be helpful too!

I use a WaterRower rowing machine and it is lovely to use, it is quiet, looks good and doesn't take up a lot of space. If you check the reviews you will see that is a well regarded rowing machine. The price - on Amazon - is $1,095.00. I checked the weight limit and it is 1,000 lbs! For me it was worth every penny because I actually use it and get a great workout while being nice to my poor knees. Hope this helps.

Update: I see a home version of the WaterRower for $895.00, also on Amazon.

The only rowing machines that are used by rowers are Concept IIs as you see in most gyms and Waterrowers.
For home use, I'd go for a waterrower - in fact, we did. It's lovely and you can hear the TV while rowing.... you don't get the cooling effect of a Concept II but it's worth it to be quiet enough not to wake the kids.

We got our waterrower cheaper by contacting the company and getting one they'd used in promo photos, so not used as such, about 20% off iirc. Anyway, it's such a gorgeous thing, and is sitting in the lounge next to me - easy to get out and put away.

I love it. Its computer is not so fancy, but I believe that's improved since we got ours?

The word "lovely" in two separate posts to describe an exercise machine. That must be a first :-)
