Can anyone explain to me what this is? is it a sugar like cane or corn or is it a substitute/artificial. I am trying to stay away from unnatural sweets and i seen this at the store. I'm worried about it as i have not clue what it is and maybe side affects. any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

it's supposedly a sweetner that comes from some plant. Tastes nasty though, like equal.

To my knowledge, Truvia is made from the stevia plant. It's a lot more natural than Splenda or Sweet-N-Low, that's for sure. And it has a better taste, and it doesn't have that artificial aftertaste. I use it all the time.

They advertise it as Stevia, which is natural. But the first ingredient is actually erythritol, which is a sugar alcohol which can have some icky side effects. I was disappointed when I saw that because I like it. Stevia is the second ingredient. Pure stevia is a plant extract but its an acquired taste and can have a little bitter aftertaste. I try to use it as much as possible.

Truvia is made from a stevia leaves. It is an all natural sweetner. For drinks I prefer the liquid stevia form which you can get almost any where now but there will be a massive selection at your nearest health food store and for foods like grapefruit or oatmeal I use a packet of truvia. It is safe and nothing like equal or sweetnlow.

it comes from a leaf i think. the steavia plant. dont quote me on that tho.

i have some stevia powder and sweetner style tablets. very different taste to them. not bad but i dunno not great. a much much healthier alternative to standard artificial sweeteners as this is all natural. shouldn' t affect your sugar levels, or stimulate candida growth either. so if you are on a sugar controlled diet its super good for you too. wish chocolate and other sugar free stuff used this instead of aspateme as im allergic to it.

its a natural sweetener made from the stevia plant. though in my opinion. the Stevia in the Raw tastes better than truvia. neither taste exactly like sugar, but its no where near as bad as the artificial sweeteners.

I have a intolerance to aspartame (instant migraines that last for days) so I turned to Truvia in hopes that I could still use a low calorie sweetener without the side effects of aspartame. It works great for me! I love it and don't think it has a bad taste. I can't stand the taste of Splenda, Equal or Sweet n low. I use it for all my baking to cut the grams of sugar....

I agree..........it is nasty. Stevia leaves a really bad aftertaste in your mouth. If you want to go natural, try some light colored agave nectar. Its nice and sweet and its low on the glycemic index or try the granulated xylitol (found in health food stores). You can bake with it just like sugar. It is natural and derived from plant fiber. It is a sugar alchohol, but is lower on the totem pole for giving stomach discomfort. This sugar can be found in Trident gum. Its good for your teeth:)

I use it daily and don't notice the difference in taste between any other sweetener. It's essentially the same thing as Stevia.
