This weekend I did a 5K walk for the National Brain Tumor Foundation. It was a great event and it was a perfect way to get in some excercise!
Some charity organizations require you raise money, some do not. In any case, whether you want to simply go for a walk or 'practice' running, its a wonderful way to give back. Usually the events are not races, and even if they are, they often have an alternate walk for non-racers.
So if you have something near and dear to your heart, such as drunk driving, breast cancer, brain tumors, depression, lung cancer, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, almost anything, chances are there's a charity event you can participate in.

p.s. all charitable donations/registration fees are tax deductible.
