Wii EA Active Workout

Just a personal confession - I'm really jealous of all of you who can do Zumba and 30DS, etc. I just got EA Active for my Wii, and it totally kicked my booty over the last 30 min. I knew I was out of shape, horribly so - but man, I can't even do squats without holding on to a chair!

Having said that, I'm not about to give up. I actually really like the personal trainer character on this game. I don't believe its estimation of how many calories I burned, but I can't afford a HRM right now. But I'm going to keep it up, 3 days a week, and when I can do the lunges and squats and the running without stopping to breath for a couple of minutes, maybe I'll be ready to graduate to one of the big-girl workouts. LOL!

Anyway, you guys who are doing those programs - please know I love reading your posts because I can feel your dedication and it inspires me to try harder, even at such a beginner level as Wii EA Active.

  • I love your determination!

I have tried Wii Active. My mom got it after her surgery. Some of the custom routines you can make are definitely no joke! Are you using the original or Wii Active 2?

I personally enjoyed it when I got to play it! Keep it up!!!

I use this too. I've gotten through the 3 week cardio kickup and I'm half way through the 9 week challenge on easy level right now. It does kick my butt sometimes but it works. Last week I could barely do a set of Mountain Climbers this week I got through them only having to stop because my 20 month old crawled under me.

Active Workout is great!!! I have it to, used to use it all the time until I got the Wii Fit Plus. And I also destroyed the resistance band. It's a great workout, and hey, go with what works!! If you like it and can keep at it- GREAT!

I can't afford an HRM either, and I use what the Fit Plus tells me, though I don't eat back all of my calories because I'm not sure how accurate it is (or Runkeeper or Nike+ when I walk).

    Keep it up! :)

I love EA Active, and it does kick your but. I have done it with guys who are fit and they are surprised at how good of a workout they get. Stick with it because it does get easier.....

Thanks for the confirmation! I'm just trying anything that I can enjoy enough to sustain it over the long term, and this game reviewed really well, so I tried it. I do think this plus "Walk it Out" and "Wii Fit" for ab/core work will be my trifecta of fitness. For now. LOL!

To answer questions: No, this isn't the second in the series, though I may "graduate" to Active 2 after I can do the challenge on hard on this version. I don't know what I would do if my Wii console broke - cry crocodile tears, most likely. I'm definitely determined and will stick with it! I have to believe it'll get easier. The resistance band isn''t much, but it's still enough to challenge me at the level of non-fitness I am. So I'll have to make it work for now. And I do the same thing - under-report my workout burn and over-report my food intake, just to err on the side of caution.

Thanks again you guys. I feel double-good now!
