so I bought one couple days ago and struggling a little bit with it... manual is very very basic, I want to use it to mainly track the calories I'm burning, do you just put the chest strap on and then start the watch? I've already setup the watch with all my info... am I missing anything? Anyone else using polarresonaltrainer.com?

If you already have all your info set up in the watch:
-Wet the 2 mesh parts of the strap with tap water
-attach the little transmitter to the strap
-put the strap on (under your pecks)
-push the middle button on the right once
-wait for it to show your heartbeat (it takes a few seconds for it to pick up the signal)
-once it shows your heartrate, you can push the middle right button 1 more time to actually start tracking time/heartrate/calories

If you need to pause during you workout, push the bottom left button 1 time. You can resume by pushing the middle right button again, or you can stop the recording by pushing the bottom left button once more.

If you want to scroll through the various data (time, heartrate, calories) either during your exercise OR after you have stopped it completely, use the bottom right button to scroll.

    I have a Polar FT7, it's great.

Wet the chest strap first - you will see 2 rectangular shaped areas on the back side, and put it on. If you are a woman, make sure it's under your breasts, and it should fit snugly, but not tight.

Then, start your monitor. Now, you will need to program it first. It's very easy actually but you have to read the book to get everything programmed correctly the 1st time.

I'd look at the manual online - why do they print the ones with the device in dark gray that is very hard to read?

It took me a couple of days to get used to, but it tracks calories, fat percentage burned, zones and several other things daily, weekly, and forever. Then, if you are off track according to your goals, it recommends what you should do the following week.

I know what you mean about the little buttons... once I got used to how they worked it was fine.

If you have extra pocket cash or a bday coming up, I recommend you buy the flowlink, because then you can sync it to your computer and it's much easier to read and change goals.

    Good Luck!

Yes, at polarpersonaltrainer.com Have your HRM handy, you register it there as well, and you need the serial number from the back of the watch

I have noticed that when I register the activity for the day it adds about 100 calories burn compared to what the watch says.... try it enter everything but the calories then see...
