I've tried dieting before but with no luck. My friends and family, while they mean well, they just don't understand what I am going through. I need the advice of those going thru what I am. By that I mean advice on how to stay motivated. That's my biggest problem...I can't seem to stay motivated. I diet for a few weeks and start to really how some progress and then...boom!!! I lose all motivation and stop. My body just canthandle it andineed to vpchange this!!! Its unhealthy for me and I am unhappy with my body. I just want to be happy!!!

I think the biggest motivation for me so far has been to stop thinking of it as a "diet". I eat what I want to, but I watch my portions and make sure that I'm eating the RIGHT things as well. This is a lifestyle change that's going to last for the rest of your life, not a diet that you can quit and go back to the way it was before.
Once I got that through my head, it hasn't been hard for me to stick with it.0 -
Staying motivated is the hardest part for me too but if you can just give it a month, just one month, you'll start seeing yourself change and the motivation becomes easier. Don't think of it as a diet, think of it as simply eating less and keeping track of it. I can't diet, I always fail so I'm doing it right. I know I won't see a 10lbs loss in one month or 5lbs in a week like a lot of fad diets promise. If you can change your mindset to accepting modest results in a longer period of time it's easier to not get discouraged. Feel free to add me, you can do it!!!!!!!0

I started myfitnesspal today. I have been 95lbs my entire adult life and in 2 months I gained 50lbs. I tried weight watchers lost a little but then nothing for a while, then tried the sensa stuff on my food and nothing. I am hoping this works and can work with my crazy work schedule.0

Feel free to add me! I recently started going to the gym (1-2 months ago) and working out, I can see changes in my body and my lifestyle has changed drastically.
It's hard at first, but over time it becomes a habit (:0 -
I had a really hard time with motivation in the beginning. It's especially hard when you live with someone who constantly brings home pizza and fried food. I started by cutting soda from my diet and trying to stay within my calorie goal. I was still eating out but eating smaller portions. After I lost the first 5 pounds I felt amazing and I realized that this is something I could do. I tried for another 5. And another 5. Here I am at day 100 and I've lost 18 pounds! It helps to have support and I hope that you will find success here as I did.0

Hey! I completely understand what you're talking about. Since starting on MFP 2+ months ago I've been really motivated but a few weeks ago I went through a period where I was really unmotivated...I just didn't feel like getting up or moving, I was missing some of the foods I didn't eat anymore, wasn't seeing such great results, etc. But I pushed through by doing a bit of fun exercise in 15-20 minute bursts and by allowing myself a few treats. People here on MFP also really help during these times (whether it be friends, forum posts, blogs, success stories, etc). Slowly but surely the feeling went away and I got my second wind of motivation. Now, things are going great!
As mentioned, it does get easier as you go along, especially when you keep seeing results (on the scale or otherwise)! Hang in there! And feel free to add me as a friend...we could keep each other motivated0
