I'd like to start dragging my *kitten* to the gym before work. But all I do is think about it being a good idea! Anyone know a good hypnotist?? Or have sensible advice on how to get into this type habit?

Like the Nike commercials say, "Just do it!" LOL! I don't think there is a secret to getting into the habit. I work out early mornings before work, and I just started going to bed a little earlier at night and waking up at the same time even on my day off, now I don't even have to set an alarm.0

I really want to exercise in the morning too but I already struggle with getting up .. I would love to be up before 5:00 to get in a good 45 min session.. I just can't seem to force myself to do it.. good luck with you0

It took a while but I'm able to get myself to the gym at 5AM three or four times a week. As with anything in life......you just have to form the routine/habit and it gets easier. If you really want to you will, if not just go at night, but the morning does provide the best benefit.0

Love it. The gym I go to opens at 6 AM on weekdays. I do my best to workout between 6-7:30 AM. Much easier to do in summer months when the sun rises earlier. The gym is less crowded in the mornings as well. At this gym, it is nearly impossible to get a good workout in after 5:30 PM on weekdays.0

honestly you just have to do it!!! i was never a person to wake up before 7am, not a morning person at all, but going to the gym after work was not working out well for me. i was always tired; then i would not get home until 7:30 and eating dinner that late is not good either. so i just woke up one morning at 5:30 and went to the gym! first few weeks it took some getting used to but now, after about 4 months of doing it i love it! i just get right up in the morning now and its a routine for me. it gives me more energy for the day, and after work i get to go straight home and spend time with my family. i highly reccomend it!! good luck!0

You just have to do it. And it gets easier. I am motivated by the fact that when I work out that early and input my calories burned, I get sooooo much more flexiblility with my meals. But I also find, it helps me to stick to healthier choices. It's a win-win. Just Do IT!!!0

I really like the idea of having more energy. Need to get past this motivation issue and just do it!0

I agree- just do it! I used to work out in the evenings, but recently started a new workout plan, and started getting up an hour earlier to do it (I work out at home...so maybe a little bit less hassle for me than going to a gym).
It's sooo much better, gives me my evenings to relax after work, and I feel much better all day having done my exercise for the day already.
Good luck! It takes 21 days to build a habit...so start now and you'll get there!0 -
I'm on board with teh AM workout. I actually get up at 3:30am on lifting days and 4:00am on cardio days. My work is an hour away so with kids in teh picture It's really the only time I have to do it. It took me about 2 weeks to reset my circadian rythym but once I got used to it, my energy levels got better. That and a good pre-workout nitric oxide to kick start me !0

When I first started exercising regularly (again) about three years ago, I started out walking with a friend in the morning. I *never* liked working out in the morning but here in Phoenix it is WAY too hot to walk outside in the summer after work...anyway, having my friend walk with me REALLY helped me be accountable and do it! After a little while, I really got used to working out in the morning and I love it! Maybe you can find someone to exercise with? It really does help with motivation and accountability.0

OK day 1 done. Now 20 more to get my habit : )
I'm not exactly energetic afterwards but I did give blood yesterday so probably a little run down.
Need to figure out about eating tho.0 -
I was planning on doing my couch to 5k run this morning at 6.30.
But my bed was soooo lovely.... don't even know why I though it was a good idea in the first place! :laugh:0 -
I did exactly the same thing this morning. Was a brilliant idea last night but this morning the bed was too warm :-P0
