Hi everyone! I have my macros set to the default from MFP right now (so 55% for Carbs)... I want to lower the carb intake slowly to get to the 40/30/30 set up for my macros but am nervous I will go over the carb alottment because I eat a decent amount of fruit. I know fruits are good carbs so I am wondering if I have to worry about them as much if I go over?

I guess it would depend on why you are trying to lower carbs. If you just want to get to a lower carb count in general, then I would think you'd have to worry about them all.

Set it to where you want and if you constantly go over either pull back on the fruit or raise it back up.

If your regular diet puts you over 40% carbs and you know you will go over why not set your goal to 45% carbs then, or just make sure your fruit fits your macros when planning your day out.

While fruits are good carbs you also need to watch what type of fruits you are eating as well...if you are trying to lower your carbs look at what you are eating in addition to fruit - a lot of processed foods have a high carb count...you may think of getting rid of those...

Look at the carb rates for various fruits and vary them...I.E. know the carb/sugar in different type of fruits (google - lots of charts out there) and choose your fruits accordenly...of you want to still eat a bunch of fruit - then try to snack on ones that are lower carbs - like berries...check to make sure you aren't eating 2 higher carb fruits in one day (like eating a banana and an apple)

Think about replacing a serving of fruit with a veggie - things like red pepper (my personal favorite - give crunch and sweetness), cucumber, tomato...

When I wanted to drop my carb ratio I faced te same thing. I dropped my multiple servings of fruit down to just a few servings a week and upped my veggie intake in place of the fruit. Now I don't even miss the fruit and it makes the fruits that I eat taste that muh better because they become almost like a special treat. :)

The red pepper is a good idea! I actually just dropped my carbs from 55% to 50% and it seems my day is still working out al right... I just need to do it slowly to get used to everything.
