Walking is killing me!

Not exactly the walking itself, but my feet. I don't know if it's the way I step down or what. The shoes don't seem to make a difference, it's been happening for years (just upset now that I've started back up lol). The balls of my feet just blister. My feet get SO hot! I get shoes with ventilation, special socks, powder the heck out of my feet before I start walking...I'm not sure what else to do! Any suggestions?

Do you have any arch to your foot?0

Yeah, I've got an arch.0

Have you been fit for your shoes? Are you wearing cotton socks? Are you overweight?
Ill fitting shoes, socks that hold moisture, and extra weight can all lead to foot pain. You might want to consider going to be fit for either orthopedics or shoes.0 -
i would say if you are blistering then you dont have the right kind of shoes... the only time my feet blister, toe nails fall off, all that good stuff is when i have had the wrong shoe size/ill fitting shoes.0

try wearing smartwool socks. Or possibly injinji toe socks.0

My thought was your shoes might be too big, or you need custom arch support.
For me, shoes need to practically be glued on, the only part of my foot that's allowed to move is the toes.
more room does no mean more air, it means more friction, which causes heat and blisters.
So I'll second the above poster - get fitted for proper running shoes, if you're in that much pain, nearly any price would be worth it.0 -
i agree with the others.. get fitted for shoes- when theyre too big and can move it causes friction which can cause blisters... the comment about socks was a good one too... the combo of moisture and friction from your shoes can be awful! best of luck to figure it out!0

Cotton socks will definitely cause blistering. There are even some socks out there that are double layer so that the layer next to your foot doesn't move - all the friction is taking by the outer layer of sock. Go to a running store where they really know their shoes and get them to help you. That's what I did, and no more blistering.0

Try silk sock liners. They're ideal to wick moisture away when your feet get hot, so they stay dry.
I normally wear them as a base layer when skiing, and they seem to stop blisters too as they fit close like tights0 -
You might need to go up 1/2 size in your shoes. I wear a size 8 regular shoes and a size 8 1/2 athletic. Made a world of difference for me.0
