I was curious because I was really feeling blah today so I took a 5 hour energy shot I got free from a friend. Im gonna keep my polar heart rate monitor on for the remainder of the day to see how it effects my heart. So many people are afraid or cannot take these due to heart problems so I wanted to do this for the info.

My stats are 25 yo, 202 lbs, normal HR (according to monitor) 80-100, no health issues at the present time.
So far...

15 mins after taking:
HR 124 but slowing and went back down to 96 within 30 mins.

Wow, 124 is pretty high! My resting HR as soon as I wake up is about 50. Just sitting watching tv, etc. it's about 60. If my HR was 124 at rest I'd probably get scared. LOL I wouldn't want to start exercising with it that high to begin with. Be careful.

124 is high, but a resting HR of 80-100 is high to begin with. I'd be interested to know how the rest of your experiment turned out, are you just resting today?

I'm not doing any major exercising. I am on my feet alot at work and thats where I took it. I don't use these shots very often at all cuz I don't like the idea of it and my multi-vitamin usually gives me plenty of energy. It was free and someone asked me about it so I decided to do the test. The weather today has been bad and my doctor has said after me tracking for a while that I have sun-downers. Meaning bad weather puts me in a funk so I also take a vitamin D supplement.

At the doctors office my heart rate averages to be 60-70 BPM and thats when Im not really doing anything. When I use my HRM Im doing something strenuous so I'm thinking that has to do with the higher rate. I'm gonna take this info to my doctor though.

Did walk my dog for almost an hour and heart rate didnt go above 132 and stayed in zone 3 of my polar training program.
