I have a questions and wanted to see if anyone else should shed a little light on it.
Since coffee has no calories would you count it in your water intake for the day or would the caffeine pretty much push it out of that category?
I jut wanted to be sure I was counting it correctly.
Thanks

Yes you should count. Any liquid you consume should be counted.0

Yeah, I count it towards my water because it is 98% H20! I wouldn't drink a lot of it just to count it towards water but if you have a cup in the morning or something I think you can definitely count that in your water intake. Hope this helps.

I know that on Weight Watchers they do count coffee towards the water consumption each day! I hadn't been but will now since without the coffee I do drink 6 cups a day! Thanks for asking this question!

You should track any liquid you consume in the food diary, but I don't count anything as water unless it is pure WATER. I would not count coffee as water, and I drink about 4 cups a day.0 -
I've heard that you can count it, but each cup would only count as half of one, because it is a diuretic.
Personally, I think it depends on how much coffee you tend to drink. I don't track my water very closely, but I do limit myself to one or two cups of coffee per day, and only allow myself a cup (or any food even) after I've downed a large glass of water in the morning. If you are the kind of person who will drink coffee all day, you probably don't want it all to count for your water. But if you only drink a cup or two in the morning then I don't see how it's a huge problem, as long as you are staying hydrated.0 -
I always thought that because of the caffeine in coffee, it was considered a diuretic and therefore detracts and works against your water intake. I've limited myself to one cup because of its bad reputation for dehydrating a body.0

I log coffee but don't count it as water...
too much caffiene and it's a diuretic - kinda defeating the purpose for water...0 -
I count my coffee since I do use sugar and creamer that has calories0

Anything other than water is a calorie count and not a water/zero calorie count.
Tea, coffee, etc are diuretics and create different issues in your diet while water is the true system flush that has only positive effects on your system -- providing you're not trying to drown yourself.
Coffee and tea do, by the way, have calories not many but they do.0 -
hmm give me a lot to think about and to figure out how I want to count it. I only drink a cup or 2 in the mornings so i'll have to figure it out.
Thanks everyone who responded.:flowerforyou:

I only count water as water. Everything else goes in the food diary as food. Caffeine can be dehydrating so I actually drink an extra half cup of water for every cup of coffee I have had.0
