How bad are bagels for you?

For breakfast, as a highschooler, I'm always in a rush, especially in the morning. I try my best to grab whatever food that I can get. And today i realized i was out of fruit and only had a fairly big sized bagel, like about 4 and a half inch sized. I usually carry a Nature valley granola bar for snacking in the mid morning during class. Would i be better off to eat the full of carb bagel or skip it and just have the morning granola bar?

The granola bar is probably better. A bagel is basically empty calories.0

depends on your calorie allowance and such. i wouldnt eat them every day, but i fit in a bagel every so often. they make awesome breakfast sandwiches0

I eat 100% whole wheat bagels nearly every day. They are not empty calories at all. Lots of fiber and protein. Best time to have carbs is at breakfast, gives you fuel for the day.0

Bagels aren't "bad" for you. (I really don't like labeling any food as 'bad' unless it's really a toxic substance like cyanide).
Bagels are just a source of calories, carbs, fiber, and whatever else happens to be in them. If you like them, if you can fit them into your calorie goals, and if you can hit your macros while eating them... then enjoy them!0 -

Depends on if you have half of a whole wheat bagel, or a HUGE monster bagel with cream cheese from the local bagel place.
My work has bagels every Friday and I wish they would just go away. lol I try to stay away from them.0 -

I concur.
It really makes no sense to single out a specific food and call it good or bad. You need to take a holistic approach to your nutrition. If you are meeting your nutritional goals, it doesn't matter if you have a bagel every day, (or a coke, or ice cream, or wonderbread for that matter).0
