I decided to start the couch to 5k program today. This is going to sound super lame but....I did the 5 min walk and then I started running for like 30 seconds. I reach my backyard and just decided to give up and ran up my backyard and completely gave up. I don't own a treadmill and I think the fact that I was outside in the open made me feel insecure. I was so mad at myself. So, I lost all my appetite for the day and I only ate 550/1550. Ugh, I'm so frustrated at myself.

Ah, sorry. that stinks. It is hard to start new things, but kudos to you for trying. Go again tomorrow, you'll be right. Every day you try it will get a little bit easier.

    blessings.

    Hi
Sorry to hear you had a bad day. But when you start something new your body isnt used to it will be hard. Whenever a long time has passed that I havent worked out my legs and arms burn big time and they feel like jelly. And when I start to run after months of not running it feels like I cant breathe lol But with time your body will get used to it. After a time what seemed inpossible to do will become easier and youll want to do even more. Just take it one day at a time. thats what I do. Today I started a new workout and didnt make it the 20 minutes...but i set small goals for myself...today I did the first part, tomorrow Ill do the first and second part, and by the weekend Ill have all three parts done. Just remember dont give up....take it one day at a time.
  • chin up mate, i have gone thru that a million times, including worst case of public display or weight losing effort going bad....
But remember one thing, new day brings new goals...

find solution to your issue, maybe find a secluded place to run or maybe find an over crowded place....that also helps if u got others doing the same thing...take ur eyes and mind of u...

do get ur food levels up..just low cals dnt lead to weight loss...

I could hardly do anything when I started couch to 5k and I'm slowly working my way up. You can do it! Remember, just by getting out there and getting started you are already lapping all of the people sitting at home on their couch. Chances are anyone who sees you will just wish they had the courage to come out and do what you're doing!

The ipod is a great idea. Create a playlist just for C25K that you get excited to listen to! Depending on the type of ipod you have, there are even C2FK apps. Forget all of those people you're concerned about. They may actually be impressed that you're out doing something! You can absolutely do this, even if you have to walk the whole thing for a while. You'll be surprised (and proud) of how quickly you progress. You got this!

the fact that I was outside in the open made me feel insecure.

So sorry you went through this... I know how you feel! I suffered a lot of teasing from my military coworkers when I first started running years ago. I had just had a baby and put on quite a bit of pregnancy weight. So I was huge, not a pleasant sight lumbering down the road, and they let me know it. But I persevered (look at me now!) and you can too.

Don't give up. Tomorrow is another day. Pretty soon you'll be so proud of what you accomplished you won't care what others think. And then you'll discover that they are impressed with you.
