I had a wendy's apple pecan chicken salad yesterday & thought i was eating something healthy, but when i got home & looked up it's nutrition value, i was surprised that the full size salad had like 1500mg of sodium in it and 27g of fat. I was surprised, where does all of that fat and sodium come from. Goes to show you that when you eat out and think you chose something healthy, low fat & sodium, there is alot of hidden fat & sodium in it. I guess all the fat & sodium comes from the blue cheese and pecans and cranberries that was in it. The dressing was not that bad fattening with 3g of fat and 60 cals. Guess i will eat my salads at home.

Like you, I thought I was doing good choosing salads when we ate out. However, when I looked them up, I was shocked! Look at the nutritional values. you might could pull half of the chicken out or something to balance it better.0

I'm amazed when I see the nutritional breakdown of american food, especially in restaurants because there are so many additives. It makes it so hard for you guys! I guess the best thing to start with is to go dressing free, then hope that your salad vegetables haven't been soaked in glucose LOL0

1500 mg is a lot of sodium. But in my opinion 560 calories isn't that bad if that's the whole meal. They also have a half-size option, or you could ask to hold the crumbled blue cheese too. It was definitely a better choice than a burger and fries!! The fat most likely comes from the cheese and vinaigrette, an the sodium from the chicken, cheese, and vinaigrette. Next time, I'd look up the info first if possible.0

Anything "Pecan" is insane.0

The pecans are candied. That's where the sodium and a lot of those calories come from.
Leave off the pecans and you are left with healthy fats, protein and leafy greens. I suppose if you've got issues with cheese, you could leave it off, but a serving of cheese is not bad for you. I'm not a big fan of the dressing, but with the cheese and chicken and cranberries, I find that I don't actually need dressing, it's super tasty on its own.0
