Bloggers - to pic, or not to pic?

I'm not a blogger, nor do I frequent blogs. However, my friend is so she's "introduced" me to some of her blogging friends. Correct me if my observation is wrong, but why don't any of them ever post pictures of themselves? Why do they only post pictures of objects, or cartoons or sayings? Is there a reason behind that? Are they hiding something? Are they hiding behind their words? Just trying to figure it out. Clearly I have nothing better to do right now.

Its usually because their blogs aren't about themselves necessarily. My oh used his blog as a portfolio for his work as do a lot of his friends and for example the geekologie writer has always been a secret and that's a huge blog (I have my suspicions that they changed writer a few mths ago though)

My one blog has a picture of me, the other one does not. They are completely seperate blogs, where I moonlight as my other self on one (the Pixi half) - it is really about my misadventures in life; and there are quite a few. I don't have my picture on that one. I don't know why it just never felt like a thing I wanted to do.

On my really out of date weightloss blog there is a picture of me. I guess that feels more like my "Me" blog, because its all about me, not just about crazy random happenstance.

I do have a couple of friends who blog that do not put their pictures up, and write under a name that is not their own because they are writing about things they do not want their families/friends to see. Its really a personal preference I guess.

Or, they could be like me. I don't post my face, pics with my address visible, or pics with my vehicle tags (unless I blur them) visible.
