Today DOES count

I've heard a lot of people make excuses like "I was on vacation. Today doesn't count." or "I over ate today so I'm not logging. It's just one day. It doesn't count, and I'll get back on track tommorrow." I'm guilty of saying similar things myself. However, we have to remember that it DOES count. If you're sick or can't log for some reason...if it's your birthday with cake or you went to a nice but high-calorie restaurant on a date, that's okay. I'm not trying to say we ate perfect and will never mess up nor am I saying that we shouldn't enjoy ourselves here and there. What I AM saying, however, is to not dismiss these days and say they don't count. Keep in mind that every day counts. Your body doesnt just reset itself; you can't erase the day. So let's all keep in mind when we have those days that it DOES still count!

I totally agree with you! Every day does count, even if you set a "cheat day" once in a while :)
I have cheat days sometimes, otherwise I would binge and it would become even worse, but even on those days I always eat in moderation, because they really count :)

I try to log whatever food I can to the best of my ability, be it healthy or not. I went out yesterday and the day before and I logged it all. It was quite bad, but I logged it because if I didn't I know I would of lied to myself and most likely overate later in the day because I didn't log anything in from earlier.

I still don't understand why people don't log if they have a "bad day." I log the good and the bad, who cares! Be accountable. That's how you see results. I totally agree with you!

I think the biggest problem with people who say "today doesn't count" is the fact that they say "tomorrow I'll get back on track" and that tomorrow never comes.

Everyone has off-days... Everyone!! Those people who are honest with themselves and generally eat very well are able to get back on track the next day without any repercussions.

Honesty with oneself is the most important part of losing weight. People who are in denial are the ones who are resistant to serious change and therefore will not change their bodies until they are able to accept that they are not being honest.

I think maybe it's fear. Fear of seeing the numbers. Fear that they'll suddenly be rejected by their MFP friends here, thinking they'll say mean or snide things. Fear of not being back on track (it becomes "real" if you log it). I'm not sure.

Exactly. I've done that too myself. Well, kinda. I'll have a bad day and then say "Tomorrow I'll be back on track" but I still log those days. Some of them haven't been as bad as I thought. I'd get to thinking it was so horrible, and then tally it all up and see that I as only 200 or so calories over.

We can't fear to be true to ourselves.
