I'm a waitress/host and work about 5 days out of the week. When I'm hosting I pretty much only walk and stand, but when I serve I'm doing a lot more. So, each day is always different...depending on which job I'm doing. At night, as a server, it gets a little hectic, so I'm not walking around slowly.
It's technically not exercising, but I do lift a lot of heavy things and do a lot of speed walking lol. Should I count the calories I burn during the hours I work and add them to my "exercise" on MFP? Does that count?

Your body is amazing at adapting itself to all kinds of situations including things you do everyday or 5 days a week. My daughter is a waitress and has been for a little over 8 yrs so I know it is a very demanding job being physically and or mentally. Your activity level would be active in your profile. Should you count the cals. you burn from your job ? I say no. You should only count the cals you burn from excercise outside of work.0

i disagree... when u are waitressing (i used to do it too) expecially at hectic times ur almost running around... i would count how much u are actually moving around as if u were walking on the treadmill... when i served i would try and hide my sweating because it was so fast paced... but i would only count if ur hosting and its fast paced...0

Former waitress here...more power to ya cuz I know its hard to not munch when your constantly around food! :grumble:
Maybe try a HRM so you can get an accurate count of how many calories your burning to add them in. Just a suggestion!0 -
Thanks guys! I really appreciate your help0

I would say no, you have an active lifestyle, and it adjusts your cals accordingly. Since you do it all the time, your body is used to it and it's not the same as working out.0

well see the thing is... I don't always serve...some days I'm serving and some days I'm hosting. Serving is an active lifestyle and hosting isn't because Im just standing there and/or walking slowly to seat people. So I don't know what to put as my "lifestyle"....
sry guys, i'm new to the site...so, I'm just sure about things yet.0
