How much cardio do you do? I think I need to do more cardio to lose the weight I want to lose. I'm combining Turbo Fire with Chalene Extreme. I feel like I need to do cardio every day. Any thoughts?

You lose weight by eating less/better.
Your diary is private, so I'm going to assume that's the problem, not exercise.0 -
I'm doing cardio every day - lost 21lbs in 25 days so far. Doing 30-40 minues on the elliptical at the highest level with a heart monitor, keeping heart rate at 80% level for 25-30 minutes of that time if I can. Once I added the heart rate monitor, and used that as my guide, my weight loss accelerated exponentially. I just wasn't working out hard enough before, but I THOUGHT I was. :-D0

If you eat at maintenance, and use the cardio to create a deficit - as much as you want.
If you are eating very restricted, like 1200, and you'll be feeding the workout so you actually get stronger, than 30 min of intense every other day is just fine. 30 min walking on in-between days is better recovery.
Weight lifting will show you better returns for your time though then cardio every day.0 -
I just changed my settings to "public". Is that the only thing I need to do on this so my diary can be reviewed?0

I definitely need to do better on posting my diary. Today does not look good...pizza0

To lose my weight I did 4 days a week of cardio (30-60 minutes each day) and ate 1400 calories a day. With this, I was losing 1.5 - 2 lbs a week.0

So ya, you don't eat back your exercise calories.
Don't do cardio everyday, you'll just start burning off muscle to provide the required glucose after a few days.
You'll lose "weight" - as muscle can provide 600 cal of energy when broken down to be converted to glucose. Plus the water weight it holds.
But if that's the desire, just cut off an arm and be done with it.
If you are interested in true weight loss, like healthy, feed your workouts, eating back those cal's.
and the 1200 goal was based on probably too aggressive of a goal setting by you. You'll probably stall even with not over exercising.0 -
You definitely do not need to do cardio workouts every day. What you do need to do every day is get up and move around.
I do a LA boxing workout 3x a week and it's awesome because it is a high intensity, full-body interval type workout for a grueling hour. I push myself to the max during this time. You do need time to recover, and as long as your nutrition is in check, a couple of days of rest in a week is really good.0 -
You probably want to mix up cardio and strength training instead of cardio every day. You will lose weight by using weights too. I also glanced at your food diary and from what I saw (of course, I just glanced) do you not eat dinner or you just do not log it because I didn't see dinner at all. Throw out all the junk food like fast food (mcdonalds, etc.) I mean, if you want to use these as cheat meals, go for it because I eat "bad" stuff as cheat meals but not fast food.. I try to stay away from it. Make sure your intake calories are the right amount because if you eat less than that you won't be at an optimum level to lose weight. I'm no expert so take what I say with a grain of salt and research for yourself and get other opinions but that's just mine0

Thanks for all the advice. Mcdonalds and pizza for lunch!!!! What the heck was I thinking.
Any whoo.....I'm good with my breakfast, lunch...not so much....I do not prepare what I'm going to eat ahead of time, therefore, I grab what I can find quick.
Dinner,
I'm not consistant with posting what I eat eat night for dinner.
WOW...I'm not off to a good start
I do not take rest days at all. I do something on the rest days even if it is a stretch class or somethin light. I one of those ppl that if I don't do somthing everyday...I will quit.
I will do better at posting. Feel free to view my diary anytime and hold me accountable when I slip.
Thanks and have a blessed evening!
I'm going to get some milk and cookies...just kidding:laugh: :laugh:0 -

lol Good luck with that....
Remember that losing weight isn't just about working out just as it is not just about eating less/better. You have to have both. There's no amount of exercise that will offsets bad eating habits0 -
Even if you log your dinner the next day, you should try to keep up with it. You'll see patterns better that way. Also, MFP lets you add meal categories. I have morning, afternoon, and evening snacks. It is important to me to have good snacks throughout the day, and I keep up with it better if I have different logs for them, not one big lump category for snacks.0

I do cardio once or twice a week either a 30 minute jog or 30 minutes on the elliptical. So other than that I'm mostly strength training. I think cardio is more preference. Do what you want with it.0

Honestly, eating less calories and making healthier choices is really how to lose weight.
As for exercising...you need both strength and cardio. I do equal amounts....because both are equally important.0
