4 weeks ago I could barely do 5 minutes on the elliptical without having to stop and take a break. Today I did 30 minutes straight without stopping! I realized today that I CAN do this and nothing is going to stop me :)

First off: Congrats! I know the feeling. The first time I got on the elliptical I barely made it 15 min on a light setting. Then I got all the way up to an hour on a harder setting! I knew I was the shizz!

Second: what is NSV? I'm new here.

NSV = NON-SCALE VICTORY.....a weight loss victory that may not involve movement on the scale, but an improvement in fitness level or smaller pant size etc.

I could only do 5 minutes the first time I tried it, as well. Then 10 days later, I was able to do 45 minutes, and only a few weeks in, I have done an hour three times this week, plus a 45 minute day, and a 33 minute day. I love the elliptical, as walking on the treadmill is very boring to me. I can't walk that fast, or run, so just walking bores me, even listening to music. I do need to step up my resistance on the elliptical, and that is my goal next week. Congrats on your NSV!

It does get better and easier! I just started jogging, now I am 42 and have never attempted this before but I have found that I love it and I can do it fairly well now!

LOL... I BELIEVED YOU! (re. Nude Surfing Village)
  • I LOVE the elliptical trainer. I remember the first time I used one when I started my weight loss journey, I tried to kill myself on it and barely went 5 minutes. After a while though, i used some sense and stopped trying to kill myself and instead went at a comfortable pace until I got used to it.

Now I can rock out on the elliptical for upwards of an hour, periodically slowing down just a bit to slow the heart rate if I feel it gettin too high...

    Great Job
