I am trying to lose weight and I am trying to figure out how many calories I should burn per workout. I am 195 pounds, and myfitness says I should be eating 1600 calories per day...that is hard for me!!! Any suggestions?? I am also on an Herbalife tea and meal replacement shake, I only do that 1x per day...

if mfp has you set at 1600, thats all you need to eat to lose weight. you dont HAVE to exercise to lose weight.
however, if you do (and you should!), mfp will add more calories to your day to keep your deficit within your goals and keep your body functioning properly0 -
Don't think of it as how many you should burn. Everyone is going to burn calories as a different rate. If you are doing at least 30 minutes of exercise 4-6 days a week where your heart rate is increasing you are heading in the right direction.
When you set up your account, if you told MFP that you wanted to lose, for example, 1 pound a week, it calculated the amount of calories you need to eat in order to do that even before you work out. So when you work out, the amount of calories you burn can (and many people believe should) be eaten back so that your net calories equals your goal.
So if you are suppose to eat 1600 calories a day, and you burn 150 calories exercising, that's 150 calories that you should eat in order for your net calories to reach 1600.0 -
I would burn as many calories as you can. That's usually my goal.0

You can DEFINITELY get to 1600 calories. I average about 1700 a day and I eat pretty good sized meals (just ate 15oz of grilled Mahi Mahi). Just pick your calories wisely.
In the beginning it is tough, but just keep reminding yourself that it will pay off in the end. Find healthy alternatives to calorie-rich food. Make every calorie count!0
