Oh. More anti-carb propaganda. At least anti-refined carb and sugar propaganda.
He's right about heart disease being caused by chronic inflammation.
And who knows... maybe in 10 or 15 years, we'll find out that he's right about the culprits being processed carbs/sugars.
However... there are plenty of other doctors that can and do offer alternative explanations. They might be right instead.
My favorite alternative explanation (read: hypothesis offered by other knowledgeable doctors) is that the inflammation is caused by the release of cytokines from over-stuffed and damaged adipocytes (fat cells). In other words, obesity causes the inflammation and the culprit is the fat tissue itself. Excess calorie consumption causes obesity.0 -
Good reminder; thanks!0

This looks like one of those every food is toxic and there us a conspiracy to poison us websites. There are some truths in Dr. Lundell's article, but saying that animal fats are better for you than soybean oil is over the top. And our problem is not those evil carbs, but an excess of everything and no exercise.0

I fully believe that having a heart causes heart disease0

I'd like to see the studies supporting this link between carbs/inflammation/heart disease. No reputable surgeon that I know would be suggesting such a thing without considerable evidence to support it. Key word being "reputable".0

A world renowned heart surgeon who lost his license in 2008? Same guy?

Why would a heart surgeon be an expert on what causes heart disease anyway? Don't they generally deal with the result?0
