How many calories to add when deep frying

Hello everyone

Tonight I am making Southern battered deep fried chicken breast fillet (I know this is not diet food but this is my Saturday treat and I have allowed the calories for that).
I am creating a recipe with my chicken breasts and all the ingredient I am putting in the breading but then what about the oil for deep frying? No I will empty my deep fryer to see how much oil has disappeared after I fried so is there a formula or do you have any idea how much I need to had to my portion to include the deep frying calories?

Thanks for you help

Doesn't the database have anything for Fried Chicken????

The database does have fried chicken there were quie a few options for boneless or not. When I made fried chicken I just used the entry already in the database, it may not be exactly right, but for a once in a while treat who cares if it isn't exact. Enjoy!

can you not shallow fry to start it off then bake it in the oven, save some cals?

I have done the "measure the oil afterward" thing, and found that the values in the database are pretty accurate, especially if you weigh your servings before they're cooked (so you know whether you're cooking up a 3-oz or 4-oz piece of chicken, for example).

Hey Gaya - I think this might be why you're struggling with the weight loss - and no, I dont mean because you're eating fried chicken, but because of the comment "I know this is not diet food".

Please don't think of this as "a diet" but as a lifestyle change, making better and healthier choices, to lose and then eventually maintain a healthy weight. That means eating "not diet foods" on occasion!
