It's crazy that while doing Jamie Eason's program it says I'm only supposed to eat 1220 on low days and only 1520 on high days to increase fat burning while maintaining my muscle mass. This seems really low to me. Im already at a normal weight just want to lean out and gain muscle. so i dont know if this should apply to me. i know this is just for the "cutting phase" of the program after the "bulking phase" which starts at week 7, i believe. i dont want to lose weight or im afraid i might disappear lol im just under 5"1' and weight 103lbs right now. Right now im eating 1700 a day. and i do eat very clean. any insight will be much appreciated!! thanks....

Your not supposed to count calories throughout the first 2 phases, that is only for the last phase! Good luck!

That is too low. If your not eating enough then your doing nothing for your muscles. And if your looking to add more muscle, you will need a surplus. Anything below maintenance will not help with much besides losing weight which will include muscle as well. You need to create that surplus (150-200) and you can always back off later if its not working out.

Keep in mind that not everyone's calorie range is the same just based on their height and weight. If you know about how many calories you maintain your weight at, then work with that number and increase it a bit. that calorie counter on the plan might not be what you need. When you cut, just don't start really low first. Gradually decrease it and see what works for you. A slow cut will be better for sparing muscle than trying to lose the weight too quickly.

    Lindsay,
Could I ask what you ended up doing about the low calorie intake in Week 7 on Live Fit? I have the same stats as you. 1300 calories seems so low, especially when I'm at a healthy weight already.

    Thanks!
