You know you’re a serious runner when –

Your first mile is a warm up
It’s 22 degrees Fahrenheit and you are headed out to run
You’d feel very bad if you missed a run
You plan your runs
You have running gear
You are careful not to drip on stuff after your run
During the run you can part with flatulence and not break stride (at all)
When you hear a sound in the woods, you know what made it without looking
A one mile uphill is no big deal
You get a little PO’d if someone crosses into your lane
You’ve ever consider running instead of taking the car
You keep track of the miles on your shoes
You keep track of the miles on your treadmill
You know your pace without using a watch
You know your heart rate without using a monitor
You know how long it will take the car to reach you the instant you hear it
You have no issue with running immediately after a big meal
You debate whether you should land on the heal or the toe
Guess that’s enough, please post some more…

I thought this would be fun but there are no takers...

Oh well... here are a few more

You have a system to route the wire for your head phones.
You know the instant the wire is out of position

I guess you have no takers because you already posted everything!

    One thing I will add:
You know you're a serious runner when you are 52 years old and agree to participate in a "running project" for your college kid who is studying Athletic Training/Sports Medicine and you turn out to be in the top 10% for your age group.

Keep on keepin' on my running friend.

I have nothing else left to say! Haha, this is awesome! Well, I have one...

You sacrifice that extra hour of sleep to get in your run.

When people who are not runners, (but want to be), ask "what's the hardest part of running?", and the only thing that I can think of is; the first mile.

You know your a serious runner when....

You wake up in the middle of the night and plan the exact time your going to run the next day.
When you dream about running different routes
You go out of your way to run just a little bit longer
When your joints feel like they're going to give out but you push a little harder
When you watch what you eat so you can perform better
When you wake up and your running shoes are right next to the bed
When you get home and just felt like you ran a marathon
When you have a specific place for all your running gear and water bottles

Yea that's all I can think of lol

    These are all SO true!

For me, when just a year ago, the thought of running 3.1 miles was overwhelming. Today, 3.1 is just the beginning...

Running when there is 50 inches of snow on the ground and it is all ice, but you put on your ice cleats and run.
Running with -40 wind chill, and still wanting more.

When you move out-of-state away from your best running buddies and the most fun thing you can think of to do when you come back to visit is schedule a 17 mile (for it us was 2.5 hours) run and consider it just enough time to catch up on the gossip since you've seen them 3 months ago.

Well, that's what I did this weekend anyway. And actually 17 miles wasn't even enough chit-chat time, so we're running again on Tuesday before I leave, but probably 10 miles or less this time. :)

you pack running shoes whenever you travel ANYWHERE--overnight trip...still pack em. with the family from out of state. still pack em. interview...pack em.

Running IS YOUR STRESS RELIEF (as opposed to a source of stress that should be cut out when life gets crazy)

You'd be battier and more tired if you didn't run.

    1. You run out of room in your dresser draw for all your shirts from the various races you have run.
    2. After several 1/2 marathons you decide to try a full marathon
    3. After multiple full marathons you get bored and just have to sign up for an Ultra Marathon!

When someone asks you your weekend plans and you tell them your running (and cycling) schedule rather than the latest movie and dinner.

When "running down to the store to get some milk" means actually running down to the store, and getting some milk.
    Backpack optional.
