Hello! My husband and I decided to become vegan but I have no idea what kind of recipes to make. I also need kid friendly recipes since my daughter is almost 2 and so picky as it is! I would love new friends that are living this lifestyle as well so feel free to friend me! The simpler the recipes the better as time is something I don't really have! :) I just have no idea where to start...or what to buy...? Please help!!!

I still eat eggs, but am vegetarian and dairy free (as well as grain-free and multiple allergies). Feel free to browse my diary for ideas.
  • I would suggest starting with a good cookbook. One that I highly recommend that already has calorie information for each recipe is Appetite for Reduction by Isa Moskowitz. Almost everything I have made is delicious, and I've made a LOT of the recipes.

A lot of the recipes use lentils and beans so they are pretty cheap, too. Plus it's super easy to enter the food onto this site since all of the nutritional info is already there.

Thanks to you both! Do you find that it is necessary to log your calories even with eating so healthy?

Yes. You also need to log to ensure you are getting enough protein and fat in your diet.

If you were standing next to me, I would give you the 2 books I bought on raw eating. One is Carol Alt's "Eating in the Raw" and the other; I can't find. I thought it was a good idea, but being old and crippled up, the constant prepping, blending, and eating almost wore me out. And, often times I got chilly from drinking huge smoothies (dang, they were good tho)! I tried for almost 2 weeks. I still think it is a good idea and could possibly help some of my aches and pains. I went all out and bought a juicer too, which I gave away because if you have a really good blender, you don't need a juicer. I still drink the fresh wheat grass supplement when I think of it. I know vegan-ism isn't necessarily eating raw, but it wouldn't hurt anybody to do it occasionally for a week or so to clean out the plumbing. Good luck in your new life-style!
