I have lost 40 pounds and now I want to tone before I lose anymore. I do strength training at the gym, upper body and lower body every other day but it gets bored. Do yall know of any good Strength Training workout DVDs that between 1-3 months? I'm trying to be toned by June.

A. There is no such thing as Toning.... Lets just get that out of the way now.
B. It's going to be hard to "tone" by june. Muscle building takes time for women since we don't have the necessary hormones to build muscle like men do. My advice is lift as heavy as you can, eat enough protein and throw in some cardio to burn the fat off the muscle.
Mix up the routine.. See a trainer for a free session if you can at the gym and see if he/she can give you any new ideas.0 -

You can preview these workouts on Collagevideo.com. Check with your library to see if they carry them. You can buy these at Walmart, Target, Online. It's cheaper on Amazon.com
1. Tae Bo Ripped Extreme. This is a woman's workout. Why I say this? Because, Billy is the only man in this workout, so I believe Billy created this workout for women.
2. Tae Bo Cardio Sculpt
3. Tae Bo Insane Abs
4. Supreme 90 Day. You can buy this 90 day muscle confusion 10 dvd program for $19.99 at Walgreens, Target, Walmart, The Dollar General Store and eve Bed Bath and Beyond (It's usally $9.99 here), some people have found it for like $5.00 at some stores.
5. Chris Freytag 10 Pound Slim Down (5 dvd set: See youtube for preview) or any other workouts by her. You can buy her workouts on Amazon.0 -
I'm a huge fan of dvd's by The Firm. I have been doing these since at least 2003 and I love that they are still challenging after all this time! FWIW- there are like 50 videos in this series and all of them are awesome.0

As you know, I'm currently doing Chalean Extreme and love it and have really seen a big difference. It's a 3 month program and I have 5 weeks left. Will definitely share my results with you.0

I love Jillian's 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30, but I canNOT do them back-to-back every day. It's repetitive and I'm more likely to injure myself.. and I get bored. So, I try to do those 3-4 times/wk and fill in with other fav workouts like Turbo Jam.
Also P90X. It's not really for beginners, but I doubt that you are by now. The workouts are longer than Jillian's, but they are kick-a**. too, and there are 3 "programs" to choose from. Your workouts change daily for 3 wks, then change for week 4, then you do another 4 wk set with a change-up in the workouts, and again for another 30 days! Great variety, there.
I just purchased Chalean's Extreme, which looks to be a bit similar to P90X to me, so I think I'll like the set up, but it will be all new workouts!
Good luck to you! I just switched to "maintenance" myself with the idea of really getting into building strength and endurance. I hesitate to say "build muscle", cuz I'm a woman and am a bit older and just am really looking for definition.0 -
Bob Harper has a series out called Bob Harper Inside Out Method. I have the Pure Burn Super Strength, which I love! My mom has his Cardio Conditioning in the same series. I've only done that once, but it also has a LOT of weights incorporated. He also has a couple kettlebell routines as well as yoga (I haven't done any of those, tho). I got mine at Walmart, my mom got hers at Target, around $10.0

if you're doing weight training at the gym and not seeing results then you arent lifting heavy enough. put down the 5 and 10 lb weights and go for the 20 and 30 pound weights and increase when those get easy, dont just do more reps because that doesn't build muscle.0
