  • I would have been more shocked if you said it was all legit. Since when has reality TV actually shown reality??? People just aren't that interesting naturally....

I've watched the show for the last 4-5 seasons and it's always been pretty obvious to me the time span involved is 6-9 months. And I don't see any difference in them saying a week on TBL versus a game show taping a few months before the holidays and saying it's halloween week or easter week or what have you. It's to correspond to OUR week or OUR time of the year not what the contestants are living.

However, I do wish that there were disclaimers to this so it's more upfront as to what is going on. The impressionable people (someone mentioned young adults but there are plenty of older adults as well that don't pick up on these things) do need these things put in front of their faces. And I'm not trying to rag on anyone so please don't take it that way. This just how life is. I personally think there should be something at the top of every segment to reinforce this is not typical weight loss and it can not be sustained under normal conditions.

Like other people have pointed out, I don't think TBL is any more of a sham than any other reality show. You have to take them all for what it's worth, which is not in fact reality.
  • Everything on TV is fake! All "reality" shows are scripted to some degree.
