Suggestions?

Hi. I have been at MFP for about a month. I am 5'8", medium frame. I started here at 163. In four weeks have only lost 5lbs, at 157 now. My goal is around 140.
I exercise twice a day, morning and night, for a total time of at least 90 minutes. Was doing the 30 day Shred, just finished. Did it every morning but 2 in last 32 days. Plus hour of other cardio dvds at night. I live in the boonies so no gym close. I have been using Turbo Jam and Slim in 6 dvds that my sister gave me. I have been eating really good for the most part. I eat most or all of my exercise calories. Still not a lot of inches lost either:ohwell:
I know I don't have a lot to lose, so I am not as worried about weight loss as I am about toning. I lost about 50 pounds 3 years ago using Medifast. It worked but was VERY fast and unhealthy. I never gained any back though which is a plus. But, I have a lot of loose skin and my body fat % is very high. I would like to work on that.
What would you more experienced people recommend as an exercise routine? It seems that a lot of people do free weights. I need someone telling me what to do though, like a dvd. I would just hurt myself otherwise. I have the Turbo Sculpt and Shape It Up from the Slim Series. Also, Jillian's No More Trouble Zones. Also have some small weights and some resistance bands. Would those work as good strength/weight training options? Or do I need something more intense? Any suggestions appreciated!

I use the '' Walk away the pounds" ( by Leslie Sansone) and add arm weights. It works for me as far as losing weight, inches, and toning. My favorite is the 4 Mile Express..it's fast, gets a good sweat built up, ad she includes resistance training for toning during the last mile. Hope this helps. :happy:0

first, what are you eating? are you getting enough lean protein? enough fiber? are you drinking enough water? Are you sure that you are correctly monitoring how many calories you're burning? These can all be contributing factors...best to you always, Rick0

I without a doubt lovvve step exercises. For me it has proven to be one of the best workouts. Cardio Force by Anni's Force Fitness is GREAT. If you dont sweat with that dvd you must not have the tv on! You wont be dissapointed. Another thing, dont eat back your exercise cals. If you eat an extra desert or larger portion of something because you worked out, thats great. But dont eat back all of them. Just my advice. Good luck:flowerforyou:0

Well, I know how you feel about the gym thing. I used to go 3-4 days week until my son was involved in an auto accident where he broke his neck. Paise God, my son is going to make a full recovery but, it will be a long road. Now, I'm a stay at home mom who used to work everyday and workout most days. I, too, became discouraged. I decided on trying the Malibu Pilates AR Chair. I think that "routine" will give my body the kind of "mix it up" to my routine to start to see a difference again. I'll let you know how it goes.

p90x it is an amazing program, i was a gym rat there everyday, but this workout kicks my butt, the diet plan isn't torture either.0

first, what are you eating? are you getting enough lean protein? enough fiber? are you drinking enough water? Are you sure that you are correctly monitoring how many calories you're burning? These can all be contributing factors...best to you always, Rick
Rick, I am eating healthy. I am trying to eat around 50% carbs, 30% protein, and 20%f fat. Here is what I ate yesterday and most days are all just as healthy:
Bkfst - 1 cup oatmeal sweetened with 1/4 cup raisins and container of fat-free yogurt
Lunch - Tuna salad (low-fat mayo) on 2 slices reduced calorie wheat bread, 1 cup raw broccoli and 1
cup raw cauliflower w/ 2tbsp hummus, couple of carrots and 1 cup blueberries
snack - 1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese, 10 cherry tomatoes, 5 strawberries
dinner - 2 low-carb whole wheat tortillas, spread on each(and then baked) - half wedge of Laughing
Cow Garlic and Herb cheese, then 1/8 cup Ragu Light, then half can of chunk white chicken
(drained AND rinsed), a salad with 2 cups romaine, 1/2 cup grape tomatoes, 1/2 cup sliced
cucumbers, 1/8 cup roasted unsalted sunflower seeds, and 10 sprays Wishbone Raspberry
Viniagrette
snack - 2 rice cakes with 2 tbsp peanut butter
I drink probably around 10 cups of water a day, maybe more. I do use a HRM. Should I be cutting back on cardio (I do every day) and concentrating on strength since I have don't have whole lot to lose? Thanks everyone for the replies!0
