How we see ourselves, how to change this?

Why can't I see what I really look like?
When I was slim I didn't feel slim, I have a photo of me looking very fit and healthy, but I remember at the time thinking how fat I looked.
No I am just into the obese category and I don't feel like I look as fat as I am, I get a huge shock when i see a pic of myself.
My self image seems set in the middle, and I have never been able to change it.
Any one else have similar problems?

I have this problem, I can't see what everyone else sees. I posted a sort of before and after picture of me earlier as I can not see any difference between the 2 pictures and people have commented saying I look thinner but I just can't see it. I think I have a warped sense of body image or something. Even when i was younger and thinner I was convinced I was huge, I want to go and slap my 16 year old self and tell her to enjoy my skinny body while she can.0
