Looking for some shoes to exercise with and train with without my feet hurting. Also, maybe some shoes that work good as running shoes too? I love shoes, so I don't mind getting two pairs if they're not drastically expensive. lol Anyway, what kind of shoes have you heard are good or what kind of shoes do you have that you love?

I love my Mizuno Waves. I was having a lot of trouble with pain in my shins and feet before I got them and since I switched, no pain whatsoever. I went to Finish Line with my old Sauconys in hand and they were able to look at the wear on my old shoes and recommend the right ones for me. They were a bit expensive ($129) but worth every penny.0

YUP! Go to a specialty running store. For instance, in Pittsburgh we have Elite Runners and Walkers, or Fleet Feet... both look at your gait and arches and the way you move, and then suggest shoes based on that. I was having a lot of pain on the sides of my feet, until I went to get fitted for running shoes and they told me that I overpronate. I now buy shoes specifically for me-- a person with a neutral arch who overpronates. Have had much success since!0 -
Yep, go get fitted. I went in January and am so thankful I did. Running is so much better now than it ever was before...no pain whatsoever!
(I ended up with a pair of Brooks. Turns out I wear a full size larger in running shoes than I though I did. Best $110 delayed Christmas gift I ever got!)0 -
The Barefoot shoes are awesome!!! The ones where each toe has it's own little slot...I wear them for running and I think they're awesome!0

If you're having pain, it's definitley worth getting fitted at a good running/sports store.
We are all so different, what works for me (Nikes usually) is probably not the best for someone else.0 -

I had shin splints playing college ball and our athletic trainer recommended better arch supports. The pain started in my outer knee, eventually worked up my leg into my butt, then the shin splints came.....pain of all pains.
Definitely get fitted and go with the recommendation of a professional. I went through two pair (Asics and Brooks) before I found my perfect shoe (Nike Lunarfly).
Also, the pain in the top of your foot may be from going with your exact size or lacing too tightly. I am a 10.5 but buy 11s for running since the foot swells a bit as you run.
Good luck in finding a pair that works for you!0 -
So, when you go to athletes foot and they get you to walk on that thing, are they actually fitting you, or is it just a gimmick?0
