Eat back your exercise calories?

Hey everyone. I have a question. I was curious, are you supposed to eat your exercise calories back? I have 227 remaining and I feel like Im starving, so I was just wondering if I could still lose weight, if I ate them back? Or is the goal to always be under your calorie goal? Is that how you lose weight?
Sorry for so many questions. I just want to do this the right way!
Thanks in advance for your help!!
