Lose, gain, can't re-lose?

I was maintaining at my goal for about 6 months, but then gained a couple of pounds when I went back to being a student and then a couple more after extreme family stress... so I'm about 4lbs heavier. Which isn't the end of the world but it's all gone to my stomach so I'm not very happy about my appearance at the moment.

The problem is, I CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT! I've been trying for about 6 weeks now and I've MAYBVE dropped 1lb, but my scales keep telling me different things so I can't be sure. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can kick start weightloss? It shouldn't be taking this long :sad: Has anyone gone through something similar and figured out how to lose again?
