Alcohol and weight gain/loss

The next morning after I've had a few drinks I generally lose weight (like 1-2 lbs overnight), and then throughout the next day my weight tends to start creeping up, and the next morning I've gained 3-4 lbs. Now I know its water weight because the day after I'm strict eating/exercise again, but why the delayed reaction?
anyone know or does this happen to anyone else?

It's pretty simple - alcohol has a mildly diuretic effect (which is also suspected as being one of the causes for hangovers) so you become mildly dehydrated as a result of the alcohol (that's the wight loss) and, most likely, are drinking more fluids the following day, perhaps over-compensating a little (if you think abut it, a 500ml bottle of water weighs 1/2 kilo or 1.1 lbs)0
