Does anyone know if the contestants get paid for going on the show, other then the $250,000 at the end? I mean, I was just wondering how these people can afford to take 5-6 months off of work. I would love to go on the show but I don't know how I could pay my bills for those months????? Hmmmm just wondering.

I honestly don't know but I am guessing that they are going on the show knowing that what they could win would be more than what they are losing by not having a job.
I also notice that most of the contestents become motivational speakers and personal trainers when they are done, I'm sure you'd have to pay a lot of money to train with someone who has worked with Bob and Jillian.0 -

If I'm going to pay BIG bucks, I'd rather work out with Bob or Jillian......maybe not Jillian, I don't like to cry. :sad:0 -
I googled the question and saw that they get like $500 per week. I don't know how true that is. One of the people said that her uncle was on the show and that is what he was paid.
I would love to go on that show but I would have to be paid cuz my bill collectors kinda frown on not getting thier money!

Due to the health status of most participants when they begin this program they should be eligible for short term disability which equates to 66.6% of their usual average pay. If they have an employer that offers long term disability in their benefits package they can also apply for long term for anything over the usual 12 weeks covered by short term. With these options the first 12 weeks they are guaranteed their same position at the same pay if they return in the alloted time, but long term their employer usually keeps them in their same position but at that point they do not have to guarantee position or pay so they could be demoted. It is known as FMLA, federal law, this is what maternity pay is in most cases as well. :flowerforyou:
Not to mention they may have family, friends, church or other means of helping their family make ends meet while they go take this drastic step. :bigsmile:0
