Hi all, sorry to bring it up, but have to ask. Super severe cramps, have a session with my Trainer is a little over an hour and I am wondering if I am going to make it. Does the exercise ease the first few days of cramps or am I going to end up doubled over in the fetal position by the time I make it home? I knocking on 45's door and the older I have gotten the worse the cramps have gotten. Trying not to succumb to my discomfort...any input?

The exercise will not help with the cramps. I always end up taking prescription strength ibuprofen on the first day. It eases the pain significantly. 600 mg of advil (3 pills) will do it.

When I first started working out hard (the first few months), it didn't help the cramps. As time has gone on, I've noticed month after month, they have been better. They haven't totally gone away, but they are much, much more tolerable. I don't know why...and I don't know if it's a majority thing, but it's happened for me. It took a good 4-5 month before I really noticed it.

Hmmm..Well during my TOM I always work out nearly every day of it especially on the treadmill. I don't know about others, but after the first day the cramps are usually non-existent especially if I workout.

When I was religious about my exercise, I noticed a decrease in pain every month, although the first month sucked balls. There is always some cramping for me, but at least it lessens, and Ibuprofen does WONDERS. :)

When I had really bad cramps, exercise only made them worse.. and made me want to throw up. Ibuprofen was great but it took forever to kick in.. and while I was waiting, i was in a lot of pain.

The only thing that has ever made my TOM bearable is birth control. and now that I'm on it, and everything is regular and pain free, I would never go back.

I have heard that walking etc helps because it helps get the lining off quicker.
